You must stay drunk on writing so reality cannot destroy you.  ~Ray Bradbury

About me:
As a kid, my favorite accessories were a notebook tucked under my arm and a pencil stuck through my ponytail. I was a "Dear Diary" kind of girl, the kind who probably would have spent the majority of my adolescence blogging if it had existed back then. Those closest to me assumed my nerdy path led in the direction of journalism, but I have always been much more preoccupied with the stories in my head than the cold, hard facts of reality.  Seeing as how English is typically listed as one of the most useless college majors, I extended my degree to include secondary education. I became a high school English teacher.
Writing was my first love, but I learned to fall in love with other things...teaching...my husband...motherhood. Free time is a luxury, but writing is still my "comfort food," my therapy. Some of my crazy stories have never made it past the initial outline. Some stories are written soley on post-it notes stuck to my walls. I still carry around the notebook and pencil. Now they just stick out from a diaper bag instead of a Jansport backpack. Ashes to Ashes, my debut novel, is the product of sleepless nights with restless babies and an idle mind.
